All good (kind of)
2008/11/16 21:37 Got to my parent's house late evening saturday, spent the evening relaxing and chatting with H, my sister her boyfriend and my mum. All is good.

Went for a really lovely 2-dog walk in the forest this morning with H, my sister and her boyfriend. Twas most excellent and relaxing.

Went into see Dad for visiting times. He's not looking too bad, just really fed up and bored that he's stuck having bed rest, though he's catching up on lost reading time that he hasn't done for years, and newly discovering how much inane crap there is in the Daily Telegraph weekend papers . In short, he's doing fine, and should hopefully be out soon.

I'm feeling more relaxed having seen him, although i new it wasn't serious serious, it was still getting to me.

oo, and H got to see some little Shetland sheeps as well, which I think made her day.

o, and willow had her first taste of horse poop, which she seemed to enjoy

much love to all

one down, far too many to go
2008/11/14 16:54 Handed in my first masters assignment ever, 1500 words was really horrible to write, as the information involved could have filled a book, and it resulted in me staying up til about 2 this morning after work reducing it from 2,200 words down to fit into the word limit. In the end it fit, but it looked like the ugliest piece of work i've ever produced. I should have followed Dina's helpful advice really...(delete every third word). time to start writing another one now all is pretty good, heading home home tommorrow after work to try and see my dad as he's been in hospital with lung complications due to a DVT in his leg. essentially pieces were breaking off, travelling through his bloodstream and getting caught by his lungs. which sucks much love to all be good xxx

Soup
2008/11/09 17:04 best quote from TV recently:

"Science is a cold-hearted bitch, with a 40inch strap on"

and i made some lovely soup today, so here's the recipe:

“Infanticide Soup”
(A really nice warming autumn/winter soup, called Infanticide because of the use of baby veg. My recipes are particularly vague as I tend to cook by eye, but its more common sense cooking, so its really easy to make.)

Baby Leeks
Baby Chantenay Carrots
Baby New potatoes
Sweet Potato (cut into baby pieces)
Vegetable Stock cube
Curry powder (optional)
Cumin (optional)
Soup mix (Lentils, dried beans and peas etc.)
Olive oil

• Cut up veg into bite size chunks, or however large you like
• While doing this boil kettle and make up enough stock for however much veg you are making, add as much soup mix as you like to it (I normally do 2 cups of stock to ˝ cup soup mix)
• Rinse sweet potato and new potatoes to get rid of excess starch
• Whilst doing this, heat a bit of olive oil in a pan with the cumin, and put the carrots and leeks into this to soften up
• Add the rest of the veg, then pour on the stock-soup mix combo until it just covers the veg
• Bring to very close to boiling, then reduce down to a low heat so it is just bubbling (apparently the technical term is actually simmering, but i shall leave in the retarded term for simplicity)
• Leave for 20-30mins, occasionally stirring, until veg is nice and edible
• Serve with some kind of nice bread

enjoy

fun and love
2008/11/04 21:22 This week has been most excellent:

I kind of quit one of my jobs on friday (the caring), as i just can't cope with it and uni right now :).

Since saturday afternoon/evening H has had a lovely Angel staying at hers.

We have been having most excellent fun times:), sunday day involved bumming around, looking at transformers toys online, truly geeking out and playing nintendo games:).

Sunday evening my parents popped over which was nice, having not seen my Dad for far too long,

Then the lovely Beth popped across, and we we sorted out some forearm pulling fun:) (after my parents had gone).

Went on for about hour and a half, but didn't feel anything like that at all. Did some knitting through it as well, which was so much fun. Beth even said that the slight twitches from knitting felt quite nice on her end of the hooks.

Today was spent at Castell Coch, which is a beautiful fairytale castle outside of Cardiff, where a lovely lady gave Angel the recipe for Welsh Rarebit. Then we headed to a phenomenal all veggie indian place, where me and Angel ate far too much and then whinged for the rest of the afternoon about it hurting:), all whilst H laughed at us for being greedy boys.

Much love to all
